2017

The first four months of 2017 will see Gillian in her role as Ambassador to Wombat’s Wish, a Geelong charity that offers grief support to children and young people after the death of a family member. In order to raise much-needed funds to continue their dedicated work, Wombat’s Wish is holding an Art Auction and Exhibition opening atDeakin University Waterfront Gallery on28 February until 10 March. The auction will be held onThursday 9 March. More than a dozen artists – local, interstate and international are donating some of their work to be auctioned. It would be lovely to see as many people as possible visiting the exhibition and coming to bid at the auction.

In March, Gillian will be travelling to Sydney to deliver her entry for the 2017 Gallipoli Art Prize. Held each year, the prize invites artists to respond to the Gallipoli story and in particular the creed of the organizing group, the Gallipoli Memorial Club, Sydney.

2016:

Gillian’s first solo exhibition in Melbourne was at the Brunswick Street Gallery, Fitzroy, during October 2016. Titled Fluid, the exhibition explored the concept of liquid forms and focused on water.

Works in this exhibition included a video piece as well as a small installed piece and a photographic print on voile. The latter image was made at Iguassu Falls and inspired by the idea of water and the sacred. [See Brunswick Street Gallery 2016]

In June, Gillian was one of over 800 artists to enter a portrait in the 2016 Archibald Prize. It was a major challenge and she was grateful to her wonderful model Mel [Dr Melanie Thomson, microbiologist and passionate social media user] for her support and encouragement with the task.
